Following a healthy start to the day (Matthew is now eating muesli & yogurt for breakfast!) we set off by foot (great to leave the car behind) from the house to Scenic World,; a pleasant walk of only a couple of miles. We didn’t know what to expect at Scenic World as in the brochure it is described as ‘Rides, Rides, Rides all day’! Not being big fans of places like Alton Towers (sorry folks) we entered the grounds with some trepidation. First stop ~ The Scenic Skyway; at 270 metres this is the highest cable car in Australia and glides gently between cliff tops above the Jamison valley; there is a glass bottom floor to add to the thrill of it all! Feeling full of confidence we are now ready to tackle anything they throw at us so onto the Scenic Railway, at a 52 degree incline this is the steepest passenger train in the world and drops into the valley; we’re just settling into the ride and whoosh it’s all over within a minute or two. Finally, we take the walkway through the rainforest for about an hour to pick up the Scenic Cableway back up to the top of the escarpment. After a fun filled morning we spent a sedate afternoon in Leura an upmarket village on the outskirts of Katoomba; lovely boutique shops, yummy delicatessens and restaurants. We ended the day with a late lunch at Leura Garage, which, lived up to a recommendation we read in The Guardian.

Today we’ve seen fabulous waterfalls, stunning rock formations, been immersed in the ancient rainforest of the Blue Mountains life can’t get any better or can it…..
