Leaving Nelson Bay it’s only a short drive of 2 hours to The Hunter Valley and our accommodation Billabong Moon; the photo in the header is our cottage, it’s an idyllic spot & we can’t stop smiling it is so stunning here. We were met by Cathy who helps the owners Jenny & Andy and were introduced to the pet Roo Matilda and her baby.

Haircut Sir!

On the way here we decided to stop in Cessnock. Matthew went to the Barbers & Madeleine to the hairdressers. Madeleine had a true Aussie hair experience with three young women ~ Emily, Elly & Jodi who couldn’t have been more charming. The conversation was the most eclectic yet; covering life as young working mums, Aussie health care (they pay quite a bit each month for private care), the welfare state, Melbourne street art and “The Bosses” recent gig. Oh yes we haven’t mentioned it but we just missed Bruce Springsteen (Madeleine was gutted) he was playing here in the Valley over the weekend.

Whilst Madeleine enjoyed the company of three delightful young women Matthew was entertained by “The Hairy Scotsman” a Glaswegian.
