Started this morning on the Southbank overlooking the Yarra River getting ready to steal ourselves for a day of sightseeing around Melbourne. Next stop the Eureka Skydeck; an experience that starts in the fastest lifts in the Southern Hemisphere taking a mere 38 seconds to travel from the ground to 88th floor, then into the 360 floor to ceiling viewing observatory. The Skydeck stands 300 metres high and sways up to 2 feet in strong winds. It seems that everything must be measured and compared as we’re told in no uncertain terms that this is the tallest building and has the fastest lifts in the Southern hemisphere. (I remember Hugo telling us about the size of their IMAX cinema compared to Sydney …)

Early afternoon saw us visiting the Immigration Museum –
