Bill’s place in Darlinghurst, described as a Sydney institution had been recommended in the Guardian for breakfast so we walked from the house to Darlinghurst; great service and the food was nice enough but we couldn’t see what all the fuss was about. We’ve decided that the food is great wherever we go from roadside cafes to fancy restaurants and to dispense with the recommendations.

We then strolled into the City to the Art Gallery of NSW which holds a large collection of Aboriginal, Australian, European, Asian and Contemporary Art. We thought the Contemporary section was impressive with a range of abstract paintings, expressionism, screen culture and pop art. The gallery also houses an interesting photography collection.

Whilst on our tour Peek Tours we called in at The Australia an iconic Aussie pub and noticed the pizzas so went back today for lunch and Matthew had Kangaroo & Emu pizza.

Tomorrow we leave our Airbnb for a hotel in the city where we join up with Sue & David, looking forward to comparing notes.
